A gunman mugged two people of $38,000 last Saturday at University Iowa Garden Apartments, a housing complex near UC Riverside, before running away, according to a news release.
Around 9:50 a.m., one victim withdrew $37,000 and the second one withdrew $1,000 from a Bank of America branch. They were allegedly followed by the suspect, who robbed them at gunpoint, Riverside Police Lt. Russ Shubert told Daily Bulletin.
Riverside police officers were notified and sent to the crime scene at 10:13 a.m. The assailant was described as a 6-foot black man who wore a dark shirt and pants, along with a yellow baseball cap.
One victim was enrolled in a UCR Extension class; the second one was visiting the campus, Shubert said.
