Coming off a 1-6 loss to UNLV, the UCR men’s tennis team won their third overall, and first home game, of the season against the Point Loma Sea Lions last Friday, Feb. 12.

In singles play, Sean Yun, Kyle McCann, Sean Robles and Calvin Ngo all won their respective matches for the Highlanders. Notably, Robles dominated Point Loma’s James Tenbroeck, quickly dispatching him with 6-0 and 6-2 wins.

UCR dominated the doubles competition, sweeping all three Sea Lion pairs. Also noteworthy was the fact that two Highlander pairs (Julian Ruffi/Sean Robles and Hans Baumstarck/Anderson Ju) were playing together for the first time and each secured a victory at 6-2 and 6-3 respectively.

With the win, the team improves its overall record to 3-7-0 overall (as of press time) and looks to carry the momentum going into its Saturday, Feb. 20 matchup against Northern Arizona within the friendly confines of the Student Recreation Center.
