Attempted sexual assault near West Linden Street

A woman reported an attempted rape in the laundry room at her apartment on Tripoli Street to the Riverside Police Department (RPD). Located near the Grace Methodist Church on West Linden Street, the incident occurred at 11:45 p.m. on April 30.

The assailant held the victim against the wall and attempted to assault her. Fortunately, the perpetrator immediately left the laundry room when the woman screamed for help. Both UCPD and RPD were contacted to try to find the man responsible, but could not locate him.

The victim offered a very limited description of her assailant. The man’s ethnicity is unknown, but he was seen as a thin man, standing between 5 feet 4 inches and 5 feet 9 inches. This man was wearing dark clothing, a cap or hat and a bandana across his face.

Home invasion on West Blaine Street

UCPD sent out a mass email to the campus on regarding another attempted sexual assault that occurred on the evening of Saturday, May 4 at 10:30 p.m.

A young woman was awoken by man touching her in her bedroom located at the Highlander Pointe Apartment complex on West Blaine Street. The victim then pushed the perpetrator off of her. The man ran out of her apartment afterwards. The Riverside Police Department (RPD), as well as UCPD was immediately notified. Unfortunately, the suspect was not found.

The RPD is currently investigating this case. The victim described her assailant as a black male in his early 20’s who was about six feet tall and weighed about 120 pounds. He had short hair and was wearing a shirt and basketball shorts.
